So...it's been a lot longer than I thought since I posted last. Anywho...
Still sending out applications (not as many as I should..) but at least I have a paying job for now at the Bulletin. I've been their Community News Editor for the past few months and I just got offered 40 hours a week plus benefits, which is good since my insurance runs out at the end of the year. And...it will let me pay my loans each month, which is no small thing.
I am really glad that I went to Pratt, because I wouldn't have met so many awesome people and learned so many incredible things and been in NYC....but....sometimes (read: now that I've gotten my loan bills) I wonder whether I would have gone to an instate school instead. *sigh* Oh well, it is what it is.
I'm glad I don't have to pay rent right now, but I wish I had my own place. I'm really lucky that my family and I get along really well, so it's not torture. But....I obviously would like to have my own place. I wouldn't be able to pay my loan bills AND rent right now, so it's a good thing.
However, being in Tryon, there are not too many guys - or young people at all for that matter. So, another reason it'd be nice to move just a little bit farther away.
Oh, and apparently, mentioning 'dinosaurs' in one post = stupid ads about them.

Interesting Packaging
I was surfing around online today and I came across this neat article on smashingmagazine.com showcasing interesting/nicely designed packages. I thought it was pretty cool. Check it out!

So I recently bought some Talenti Sorbetto - in Roman Raspberry. It was DELICIOUS. The packaging is also really beautiful.

Kitties!
I've been meaning to post these pictures of the kitties, Bartok and Cassie, for a while. So, here they are!

They've been getting so big! I was reminded of this this past weekend when I got to play with Sarah's new kittie, Dylan, all weekend! He's only 7 weeks old and is sooo cute! But I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of him. :( Or any pictures of this past weekend, for that matter. When I get them from Sarah I will share some.

I want to set my Brains on Fire!
So Les Mis is over and done with. The kids did a fantastic job, although it made me feel super old...haha.
Here's a pic of the whole cast:

And here's a close up of one of the scenes:
(Jamie played a boy through most of the play)
-----------
In other news, it's been a pretty busy week so far. It's only Wednesday, and I've already traveled to Greensboro, NC (about 3 hours away), Greenville, SC (1 hour away), and Atlanta, GA (3 hours) to interview with people. Unfortunately, no jobs at any of these places, but it's comforting to know that they really like my work and want to meet with me and hopefully will think of me if they end up needing someone.
My favorite place so far is Brains on Fire. It's an awesome marketing/brand development company (really, you should check out the site - it'll explain it better than me - plus, it's awesome) in Greenville, SC. My dad actually was one of the architects who helped design the space that they're in. The people there were super friendly and really seemed to like my work. The woman I met with, Megan Byrd, introduced me to everyone there and raved about my 'awesome work' and was just all-around a fun, nice person who put me at ease. I hope they start hiring soon. :)

Life
As Monica pointed out, I have dropped off the face of the earth, social-media-wise. I can't really give much of an excuse for it, but I CAN catch you up on what I've been up to!

This monstrosity has taken over my weekends. I had to beg my Dad to go down to visit my aunt with my mom and uncle and spend 4th of July on the lake with them. Jamie had to stay in order for me to go. He's a slave driver. ;)
Here's me (plus part of the camera strap) working on the shop.
And another of me and my wide ass working on putting the I beams up over the garage.
What you are looking at is the shop my Dad has been planning on building for my entire life - for the past 22 years. So the fact that it is finally being started is pretty incredible. We've been working on it every weekend for the past 3 weekends - starting on Friday at 8am and working till around 6-7pm. Then we do the same thing Saturday and Sunday. And rinse and repeat. I have the weirdest tan lines now and I think I'm slowly getting stronger. Construction is not my strong suit. Jamie, however, is in her element. She's learning a ton and actually enjoys it. Not that she wants to do it for a living or anything, but she's much better than me.
--------------
So that's how I spend my weekends. I have to beg to get out and do something different - and it usually doesn't get o.k.'d. :( (minus Nicole's wedding weekend - I will post pictures when I get some from Nicole)
My weeks are spent sending out applications for jobs, occasionally working at the Bulletin, and catching up on my reading. :) Next week I have a few interviews, (most just to meet people - only one possible job :( ) But even that is alright. The more people I meet, the more people I know and hopefully some will think of me when they do have openings. I'll probably stay down in the Southeast, but would not say no to a job in NYC. I've really been enjoying being back, even if I get lonely and would like to have my own place. For now, it's cheap and I'm saving money to get started on my own.
--------------
I'm also helping out backstage for our summer show, Les Miserables. Jamie has a few small parts in it. It's been nice to be back in the theater, but strange that I'm now too old to be in the summer shows. All of the kids are about 17-18 or younger - I think the oldest guy is 20. I feel like an old woman, even though I'm only 22.
My social/romantic life is at an all time low. Nicole is the only friend who has stuck around PC and we don't see each other all the time, probably about once a week to at least get lunch. And as for guys, well, let's just say Polk County isn't the best place to meet someone. The fish aren't biting - hell, I don't even see a pond. Oh well, things will look up in that respect eventually. On the bright side, I'm saving money not going out. :)
--------------
So that's what's going on with me lately. I will really try and keep updating this thing more often! And I will try and take more pictures. You can find more construction pictures if you wish on Facebook (i'm not sure that link will work, but if you're friends with Donna Everett, you can see them there)

More weird dreams
So - let's get this out of the way first: I am still alive. I didn't go down to NC and die. Don't forget about me! :D
I will discuss what's been going on with me in a later post, I promise. However, this one is for the weird-ass dreams I had last night.
dream 1 -
This one was very 'Fringe'-esque. I wasn't actually in it, but observing it like a movie. There was a guy, and it was the middle of the night. He had some weird paranormal thing that was about to happen to him, like he was hypnotized and then would explode at the end for some reason. Something to do with a remote car key lock thingy. I think he was supposed to go downstairs, go outside to his car, and hit the key thing and explode. No idea why. So anyway, he starts downstairs, gets outside and there are zombies. Not tons and tons, like you'd expect, but even one zombie is too many (in my opinion). So, he has to avoid the zombies, and suddenly these non-zombie guys run up to him and start punching him for no reason. So, he gets in this awesome fist-fight with them, beats the shit out of them, and makes his way to his car, where he finds the remote key thing and blows up in an epically awesome explosion.
I then wake up from this dream, and go back to sleep to have this dream:
dream 2 -
This one's very short and I don't remember everything. I was at Pratt and Obama was giving a lecture. It was my last night at Pratt and my friend Dan texted me wanting me to go eat - I said no, I was going to watch Obama speak, duh. So anyway, he started speaking, and then it got way informal and he ended up sitting next to me and we started talking about how his daughter's name and mine were the same. Then we watched some children's book turn into a movie in front of our eyes - it was strange. Then, that dream ended.
dream 3 -
I was in a room somewhere, where they were doing some weird scientific experiments on sharks (not in the same way that Deep Blue Sea does). In the middle of this room, on a table, was a giant square of ocean - it looked and moved like jello, and was completely self-contained. Because of this, you could lean down and look through the sides of the 'ocean' and see all of the creatures. However, they could also reach out of the 'ocean' and kill you. So, you didn't want to get too close to where a stingray was or his tail might whip out and kill you. There were other people all around working on other various scientific things, and since I had no idea what any of it was, I just tried to look busy so I wouldn't have to do anything. There was a girl who was a fashion designer. Apparently the dance known as the Rumba which had been lost for centuries but was said to have some magical properties (this dance is not lost, it is actually a well-known dance - why it was in my dreams I have no idea). This girl was making an intense necklace that would hopefully harness some power from the dance and let the wearer be capable of dancing the Rumba and thereby having control over the ocean. Very strange. Then I woke up.
I have no idea how many of you actually read those, but I just wanted to get them out of my head and in writing. I will try and be back soon to catch you all up on my life, such that it is. :)
I miss everyone in Bklyn and can't wait to see y'all again!

Hm. How life changes.
So, after tons and tons of stress, fruitless apartment hunting and everything else that was going on, I've decided that I am actually going to go back home after graduation. I know that many people will be upset or saddened by this news (at least I hope ;) ) but I really have given it a lot of thought. New York is awesome, (mostly) but I just don't think at this point that it is a financially viable option for me. Without an IMMEDIATE job that would pay me NOW, I can't afford rent. After crunching numbers all weekend, I've realized that I would have to work completely full time at a job I could get now, like Barnes & Noble, Forever 21, etc., to even possibly pay living expenses. And even then I'm not sure if it would work. I'm just afraid that if I have to focus so much on just surviving, I would get distracted from my ultimate goal of advertising - the thing that I just spent 4 years studying and getting a degree in.
It's going to be an emotional couple of months - hell, it already has been. I feel like my life has been turned upside down the last few months and I am so happy to at least have a plan. One that doesn't cost me a ton. I am going to miss everyone in New York SO MUCH!! :( That is THE biggest thing that makes this hard - people already know that I'm not that fond of NYC in general, but the incredible friends that I've made here have given it a special place in my heart.
So, we will rock graduation, and have a KICK-ASS time tomorrow night!!! And, I will visit - so this isn't goodbye! :D
I love all of you!! <3

I haven't died! And...go see StarTrek!!
Whew, I kinda dropped off the face of the earth for a bit there. My final survey is finished and I've been recuperating the rest of the week. The only thing between me and graduation is this stupid essay I have to write for my Ethics class. I have no more classes - EVER (unless I go back to school, which is not likely for a while, if ever), but this paper is hanging over my head like a brick. 10 pages about Hobbes, Rousseau, and Kant's views on animal rights. Bleh. Oh well, I need this class to graduate, so I'll suck it up and write.
Oh, and by the way, I WANT TO SEE THE STAR TREK MOVIE AGAIN! Yes, it was that awesome. :) You should totally go see it! I'm not really a Trekkie, but I could definitely get into it, and even if you are, my friend who is way more into it than I am said that it was still awesome and that they snuck in awesome references and stuff. So, everyone wins! :D

Fuck Yeah, Cilantro! <3
I think I found my soul mate. Mon and I discovered an awesome site yesterday: Fuck Yeah, Cilantro I think this guy and I were meant to be together...I LOVE cilantro! I used to hate it when I was younger, but I stopped being stupid. Thank God. Life wouldn't be the same without the metallic twang of cilantro making everything more delicious...more incredible...more intense....more....*drool*

Incredible Stop-Motion Piece
I have always loved stop-motion. A lot of my favorite projects of mine are stop-motion pieces. So, it's no surprise that I LOVE this piece:
Thanks, Mon (and Twitter!) for showing it to me!
